Dear WSVSD Families,
I am writing to provide an update about the parking lot project at Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School (WPSIS), Henkle Middle School (HMS) and Columbia High School (CHS). We are excited about the newly designed parking lot at WPSIS, HMS and CHS campuses, however, it will not be ready for the first day of school tomorrow.
An alternative drop off and pick up site has been created near the field house. If you are dropping your student off at school tomorrow, please use Simmons Road to turn left (south) onto Field House Lane, loop into the field house parking lot, and then exit through the practice field back out to Simmons Road. HERE is a map showing the route. District staff will be stationed at various locations to assist students, and help keep traffic moving.
The parking lot project is the final piece to the 2019 voter approved capital bond. It was designed to improve walking pathways for students and to help traffic flow through the campus parking lot more safely. The 2019 voter approved capital bond brought various other facility enhancements across the district, including the field house near CHS, the Dr. Jerry Lewis Health and Wellness Center at CHS, and parking lot improvements to “C” court at CHS.
