Over the last couple of months seven FFA Members trained for the Washington State FFA Apple Evaluation Career Development Event on Wednesday, December 6. During our training two employees from Mount Adams Fruit, Alan Reitz and Natasha Decker, worked with our team. They came to Columbia High School once a week at lunch to prepare our White Salmon FFA members with knowledge of Washington’s most famous crop through a written exam and team challenge that included apple grading and disease identification, as well as in-depth knowledge of the harvesting and sale of apples.
The six White Salmon FFA members able to compete in Kennewick and pictured are Wesley White, Jeremy Perala, John Stennett, Josie Dickey, Kevin Hernandez and Molly Gehrig. Genevieve Kingsford-Smith also trained with the team. In the photo with the FFA members is Mr. Alan Reitz.
The White Salmon FFA would like to thank Alan Reitz, Natasha Decker and Mount Adams Fruit for sharing their time, knowledge, energy and resources with us! We are looking forward to doing this again next year!
