Dear White Salmon Valley Families,
The White Salmon Valley School District held a special school board meeting last night and the decision was for our district to remain in remote learning through the holidays. This decision was based on the current rate of cases in our county that have put us at 116 per 100,000. This rise in cases has placed our district in the highest level as defined by the state “Decision Tree” for bringing students back into an in-person hybrid model.
The Klickitat County Public Health recommendation for White Salmon Valley School District is to remain in distance learning until community disease activity returns to moderate levels below 75 per 100,000. The district is not setting return dates at this time, but will evaluate where our case levels are when we return in early January. We will provide families with an update at that time. In the meantime, the health department has approved the district to continue bringing in small groups of students K-12 to receive individualized instruction and support.
We miss our students and know that this has been a challenging and stressful time for our students and families. Our hope is that our numbers will fall within the range required in the near future that will allow us to bring our students and staff back into a safe in-person environment.
Sincerely,
District Administrative Team and School Board
